My first professional publication grew out of a collection of papers originally presented at the Central States Regional Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in Kansas City, MO, on April 1, 1985. To have my essay included alongside some of the senior scholars in the field of New Testament studies was a real honor, so you can imagine my delight that the late Amos Wilder called attention to my essay in his introduction to the collection.
